From an American military family, I grew up moving and living in diverse cultures.  As a young woman, continuing a traveling lifestyle, I moved to the American Southwest, eventually settling in Arizona.  Earning a M.Ed. specializing in Montessori, for twenty years, I collaborated in the development of Khalsa Montessori Elementary School in Phoenix.   Throughout this time, I maintained my art studio, studying figure drawing and acrylic painting.  I’ve exhibited at Phoenix First Fridays and in galleries on Old Town Plaza Albuquerque and Main Street in Scottsdale. I’m particularly grateful for the tutelage of Nancy Reyner and Anthony Ryder of the Ryder Studio School, both in Santa Fe.   Innate curiosity and resourcefulness has immersed me in myriad life experiences.  The color and flow of painting reflects the spirit and energy of my eclectic journey and encounters.  My work was selected to represent the Tempe, AZ’s Mill Avenue Festival of the Arts, Khalsa Montessori School’s 25th Anniversary, the Caring Coalition’s Benefit Concert, and the Holiday CD Album cover for Scott Jeffers’ Traveler World Music.  In January 2017, I relocated from Phoenix, AZ to a studio gallery, Light of the Soul, in the Hot Springs District of Truth or Consequences, NM.  Purchases and shipping may be arranged by emailing jaswantkhalsa@gmail.com.  I'll be happy to discuss commissions or special requests for framing.  To order images as prints or greeting cards,  click here.
